“I Felt Beautiful. I Felt Powerful.” — A Boudoir Experience That Changed Everything

Every woman has a story, and sometimes, that story includes years of putting herself last. For this incredible client, her boudoir session wasn’t just about photos—it was a reclamation of self. After becoming a mom at 18, navigating the unique journey of raising a child with autism, and spending years in survival mode, she finally took a bold step for herself. What started with a spontaneous response to a Facebook ad turned into one of the most empowering, emotional, and joyful experiences she’s ever had. And her words? They tell the story better than anyone else ever could.

“I recently had the most incredible experience with Brin of Be Photography, and I can’t wait to share just how amazing she is! From the moment we connected, we just vibed. It was fun, it was empowering, and it was exactly what I needed. Plus, Fallon, who handled my hair and makeup, is an absolute gem.

A little backstory about me—I became a mom at 18. I’ve almost been a mom for half of my life, and while it came with its challenges, I truly believe it shaped me into a better person. Eight years later, I had my son. By then, I was a little older, a little wiser, and a lot more stable financially. But life had its own plans, and my son was born with the superpower of autism spectrum disorder. His infancy and early years were a whirlwind, and we were in survival mode for a long time. Because of that, I’ve always put myself on the back burner. I had considered doing a boudoir shoot for years but never found the time or justified the investment.

Then, something incredible happened. After a hiatus from social media, I reactivated my Facebook account, and within 15 minutes, I saw an ad from Be Photography. Brin was offering a discounted boudoir session for seven women in exchange for a write-up/review. It immediately caught my attention. I love writing (as you can probably tell—I can talk forever!), and when I looked at Brin’s work, I fell in love. Her style was stunning. Without hesitation, I submitted my application, and Brin got back to me almost immediately, setting up a phone consultation for the next day.

Now, let’s be real. I’m a millennial—I hate talking on the phone. But Brin made it so easy. She called exactly on time, and from the start, she was warm, reassuring, and incredibly easy to talk to. She took her time explaining the process, validated my concerns, and made me feel comfortable right away. She was also super flexible with booking and even arranged my hair and makeup appointment.

That brings me to Fallon—one of the coolest, most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met. She’s an insanely talented hair stylist and makeup artist who made me feel absolutely gorgeous. I’ve struggled with my skin due to medication for autoimmune arthritis, but Fallon worked her magic. She even has her own homemade skincare potion that worked wonders! Her work was flawless, and any insecurities I had melted away. Plus, talking to her about her own boudoir experience with Brin put me even more at ease.

Then came the shoot itself. Brin’s studio is a dream. We had a good laugh about how similar it was to my own master bedroom. She told me to bring at least one outfit from home, but she also had an entire wardrobe available—when I say closet, I mean racks and racks of lingerie. The options were endless, and while it was a little overwhelming, it was the best kind of overwhelming. Brin helped me choose pieces that I wouldn’t have picked for myself, and wow—I looked amazing!

Brin is a true artist. She guided me with light coaching, explaining little adjustments that made a big difference in the photos. But by the end of the shoot, I barely needed guidance because I felt so at ease. Brin’s energy was infectious—she would get so excited and squeal when she captured a shot she loved, and that enthusiasm made me even more confident. She showed me a few previews during the shoot, and seeing those images gave me such a boost.

When it came time for the big reveal (which I opted to do via Zoom two days later), I was nervous. Self-doubt crept in. I expected to cringe the entire time, but instead, I was blown away. There were nearly 200 photos to go through, and Brin walked me through the process of selecting my favorites. Honestly? It was hard to narrow them down. I have never liked looking at my body, but I loved almost every single photo. I even teared up because I was just so freaking happy. I felt beautiful. I felt powerful. And I cannot wait to show these off—even if it’s just to flex in my nursing home years and say, “Look how freaking hot I was!”

Brin is a miracle worker. Her talent is unreal, and she has such a gift for making women feel like goddesses. If you’re even slightly considering a boudoir session—do it. I promise you, it’s empowering, it’s fun, and it will boost your confidence through the roof!”

This session was so much more than lingerie and pretty pictures—it was healing, it was liberating, and it was a celebration of resilience, womanhood, and self-love. To say I’m honoured to have captured this moment in her journey is an understatement. If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to choose yourself, to see your beauty through someone else’s lens, and to finally feel powerful in your own skin—this is your sign. You are worthy of this experience, too.
